Synopsis "The Odious Odes of Ordeal: Poems by Michael Ordeal"

The Odious Odes of Ordeal is a book of poems by the recluse, roué, Michael Ordeal. He left America at the age of 21 and basically never returned. He lived in Europe for a while, then Iran. He immigrated to Australia, then lived in New Zealand. But they were too Western. Later he traveled to Japan, which was in effect the first love of his life. He has spent the rest of his life in Asia, immersing himself in the religion, culture and erotica of the Far East. Later, as an older man with money, he began patronizing the entertainment districts, the gay quarters. In Korea, it was the infamous Hooker Hill in Seoul. In Japan, it was mostly China Town in Yokohama. In the Philippines, it was Mabini and Ermita in Manila. These are a collection of his poems over the years. They are philosophical, whimsical, satirical, erotic.
