Synopsis "The Parliamentary Page"
Look-a-like fraternal twins, Shannon and Mic are delighted when Mic is hired as a page in Ottawa in 1867. It is a chance for their family to climb out of poverty. When Mic gets sick and can no longer work, Shannon convinces her parents she can do a "boy's job." Shannon must hide her identity from Members of Parliament, but also keep another big secret. Her efforts to fool everyone involved seems to work until her long lost uncle comes to town with his Fenian brotherhood, ready to overthrow the government to send a message back to Britain to free Ireland. Shannon, Mic and their friend, Ian, must somehow thwart these terrorists. The children debate whether to tell John A. MacDonald, the premier of Canada West, before the first Dominion Day of Canada festivities start on July the first.
