Synopsis "The Role and Place of Women in Agroforestry Systems"

The main objective of this study is to promote the involvement of women in agroforestry. Specifically, the study aims to analyse the contribution of agroforestry to women's emancipation. Thus, a survey was conducted during the period from 23 October to 23 November 2017 within the Nstio project, among 30 randomly selected households. This survey consisted of collecting information to verify the level of women's involvement in the Nstio agroforestry project. The results of our study show that 76.6% of women own the land, compared with 23.3% of men. With regard to the distribution of activities within the farm, of the six activities identified during our study, women are responsible for five main activities: planting, maintenance, harvesting, processing agricultural products and selling. Men, on the other hand, are only responsible for preparing the land.
