This multi-faceted adventure takes place on the Big Island of Hawaii, where a twelve-year-old girl named Momilani, begins working on a school science project about fish in tide pools and how they are impacted by what they eat. On one of her trips to her favorite pristine tidal pools, she discovers sludge oozing out of a broken pipe belonging to an adjacent business called Bio-Ocean Corporation. The discovery leads her to expand the scope of her science project to include research into this mysterious company. What are they doing there? What is the sludge and what impact does it have on the environment? Her ambition to be a forensic science detective and her strong resolve to find answers lead her on an amazing adventure! Momilani draws her younger brother Kai, and older cousin Sam, into her plans to investigate the sinister looking Bio-Ocean Corporation and their operations. Trouble ensues as Momilani's parents and grandparents get involved. The family must work together as hidden secrets, danger, and Hawaiian sacred lore is uncovered. Fish dreams, giant sea turtles, a menacing security guard, flying squid, a fairytale cabin in the jungle, and wild pigs, all seem to lead Momilani in her quest to help a special new friend find the answers he seeks.
