They decide their only option of survival is to make the perilous passage to Europe. Arron has gone on ahead and is settled as a child refugee in a small English city. here he has to navigate his way through the complex friendships and lifestyles of his college classmates and well-wishers. terribly homesick at times, he worries about Alem as he too starts his journey after meeting Emu-Hiba, a young woman escaping an army prison, also intent on finding a better life. Aba Tso, Alem's grandfather is the guardian of a prophecy which he shares with them. he helps them on their way through a mixture of teaching, mysticism and magic.
