Synopsis "The Sphinx of the Fang"
THE BEAST-GOD'S REVENGE When arch-wizard Khorlen falls under the curse of a demon-god, he must perform a dire sacrifice to free himself from the demon's ire: he must offer up Lysidia, princess of a ravaged city, whose life might threaten even the bastions of Hell itself. And Lysidia must be sacrificed with no earthly knife. Only the last remaining fang of the primal beast-god known as the Great Tiger must steal her life. Unfortunately, Khorlen does not know where to find the fang, carved in lost ages of the earth into a slender, menacing sphinx . . . When Kondur, an itinerant Hyperborean thief-mercenary, steals the Great Tiger's fang from its forgotten, horror-haunted tomb, the wizard unleashes both armies and arcane monstrosities to retrieve the sacrificial dagger he requires to ransom himself from from the powers of darkness. While Khorlen sends his slaves against Kondur, Lysidia plays a desperate psychological game of her own with her captor - with her life and soul as forfeits if she loses. Kondur must fight his way through the ramparts of sorcery to exact his vengeance on his unearthly foe. But a horror worse than any sorcerer - and an ironic twist of the heart - await him inside the sorcerer's last bastion . . . THE SPHINX OF THE FANG is a classic pulp adventure novel - with a modern twist. Classic sword and sorcery mingles with modern mind games in a tale that pits the labyrinthine twists and turns of the human heart against the eerie horrors of the outer hells.
