Synopsis "The Story of a Quiet Man: Veteran of WWI"
After enlisting in 1917, Collin Spencer served on the French and Belgian front before he was invalided out and returned to England for recuperation and further training. His duties then took him across the globe, to Egypt, Turkey and Syria, before trying to start a new life in New Zealand and returning to England in 1921. Like many veterans, Collin did not speak to his family of his experiences in the War, but he did write about his travels in an exercise book, which was found some thirty years after his death. This diary is Collin's experiences in his own words, and illustrated with some 100 postcards and personal photographs that he collected on his travels.
