At first it looks like an open-and-shut case, and, that her boyfriend ended her life in a fit of anger. But police soon discover a connection with a series of unsolved murders that span decades and which all bear the same sinister hallmark. As Adam ploughs deeper into the investigation, his suspicions are aroused by the story of someone harbouring a tragic past. But getting his superiors to focus on his suspect seems like the greatest challenge of all. Before another woman dies, Adam has to convince them that appearances can be deceptive, and that a psychotic and calculating mind lurks behind a respectable and gentle façade.
