The plot examines friendship, community and also the risks of miscommunication and false accusations in the story.Red squirrel Timmy Tiptoes sets out with his wife Goody to collect nuts for the winter. They bury their collection in a hollow tree. A squirrel nearby starts to believe Timmy is taking his own nuts. Timmy enters his storage hollow and can not be released. Chippy Hackee, a chipmunk, has chose to hibernate in that area and is joined by him. Goody ultimately finds Timmy and clears his name. Chippy Hackee chooses to hibernate for another winter while Goody and Timmy resume their regular lives.
