Many are called, but few are chosen. And why are they not chosen? Because their hearts are set so much upon the things of this world, and aspire to the honors of men. What are these things and what are these honors? How can we go from the many to the few, taking with us as many from the the many as possible? Worldly things and honors - two innocuous commodities in and of themselves - can help exalt mankind to yonder heavens when bridled by true humility, or, upon just a sprinkling of pride, can nullify and reverse all the good which might have been, like "shafts in the whirlwind (Hel. 5: 12)". When the Mortal Messiah underscored, "that a rich man shall hardly enter the kingdom of heaven", was He serious about that, or did He - and should we cross our fingers and toes - mean something else? When we were baptized, ordained, or endowed, did we actually make covenants, or were we just there? We know we can renew baptismal covenants, but how can we renew temple covenants? Do we understand the covenants we made, or have we not gotten around to that yet? How interested should we be about the execution of covenant law? Can we make, let alone keep, a covenant we don't understand how to live? What keeps us from a well defined understanding? Worldly things and honors from men are the number one and two devices the adversary uses to misdirect our energies from understanding, making and keeping covenants. This book exposes our common enemy and the subtle, sneaky, covenant cheating delusions he pedals under cover of darkness. At the same time, we will explore the majesty and brilliant splendor of true covenant living, and what it looks like.
