Synopsis "The Wandering Prince"
JFK has never been so alone in a world of back-slapping, handshaking, two-faced well-wishers, close friends, and his ever-diligent family. Caught between the struggle to be his own man and fulfilling his father's dream of putting a Kennedy in the Whitehouse, R. A. Martinez winds us through an intimate night with JFK on the streets of Los Angeles. An engaging and intelligent limo driver, Dembe, an actual prince, relocated to the United States from the Congo as a political refugee and driving a limo in LA, helps Jack in his search for answers. JFK questions whether or not he wants to run for the Presidency while Dembe walks him off his proverbial cliff, but not before Jack involves Jackie, Marilyn, Joseph, Rose, Bobby, Ted, and a host of LA locals on the streets of Los Angeles.JFK questions his destiny, his love for Jackie, his lust for Marilyn, and his thirst for all women over his love of country. The future president battles his demons as well as the people who try as they might to protect him from himself. As the night darkens, the limo wheels roll and we get a real glimpse of the struggle to control the intensity that is JFK. John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe lived charmed lives, but they may have burned too bright too fast. In The Wandering Prince, R. A. Martinez helps us to understand why.
