Synopsis "The Whippoorwill Song"

A glimpse of a life lived in black and white. There may have been gray hues and some color, but in the years of the 1940's, and 50's when the world seem less complicated, I remember it as serene with no drama and my recall is a sharp black and white. The lines of right and wrong were plain, and there was no guessing where we stood. For the most part we would label it peaceful. There was a yearning however, for a world beyond the land and the other side of the horizon, which could be found in each of the six girls who lived their young lives during this era when the world was waking up from a depression which made our parents and grandparents, who lived it, more thankful for the blessings coming their way. This is our story; a story of a man and his wife who forged a living off the land and successfully raised their daughters to appreciate what they had, and where they came from; a story of roots which run deep in the hill country of Tennessee.
