Synopsis "Thermodynamic Properties of Liquid and Liquid Mixtures"
The book is based on assessment of role of ultrasonic velocity a conjunction with the equation of state to compute no. of thermodynamics properties of binary & multicomponent liquid mixtures. Ultrasonic velocity and other thermodynamic properties have be evaluated theoretically in the light of various statistical, empirical and semi-empirical theories of liquid state. Main aim of studying the properties of multicomponent systems is to test the validity of various theories of liquid state which are quite applicable to binary systems. Due to scarcity of multicomponent data, their extension and applicability could not be carried out. The other aim of the present work is to study the excess thermodynamic properties (Excess volume, Excess compressibility, Excess surface tension & Excess velocity) which are the measure of extent of interactions involved in the liquid mixtures. It has been pointed out by several workers that the excess thermodynamic functions are sensitively dependent not only on the difference in intermolecular forces, but also on the difference in size of the molecules.
