Daraufhin folgt der Hauptteil der Untersuchung, der in zwei Kapitel untergliedert ist. Das erste dieser beiden Kapitel umfasst die Betrachtung der Mittel und Vorgehensweise Gad Elmalehs zur Konstruktion des 'Eigenen' und 'Fremden'. Dabei stehen die Verfahren der 'Abgrenzung' und 'Zuschreibung' im Vordergrund. Im zweiten Kapitel werden darauf aufbauend die Funktionen von Komik, Humor und Lachen anhand bekannter Humortheorien sowie weiterer Ansätze der Humorforschung bei der Konstruktion analysiert.
