Synopsis "Tongues of Fire"

George Elliott Windish was born in Cumberland, Maryland, in 1939. He graduated from Fort Hill High School and received his BS degree from Frostburg State University (then known as Frostburg State Teachers College). He spent three years in the US military working in the army intelligence field and then thirty years working in heavy industry. Windish currently manages his own consulting business. George began regularly writing poetry twenty years ago. His work has been greatly influenced by the years he lived at his parents' farm, located just northeast of Cumberland, Maryland, on Smouses Mill Road. His inspiration springs from a profound love for nature, his ability to openly express his inner feelings to others, and his love and respect for his wife, Linda, of fifty-four years. George approaches all these subjects from multiple directions, embracing a wide and deep spectrum of thought, which enables readers to personally relate to his writing from their life experiences. He paints pictures in the reader's or listener's mind through his unfettered writing style. Besides his poetry and prose, this book contains valued letters he has written to friends and family, short stories, and chronicles of adventures he has had. As in his first book, My Father's Mansion, published in 2013, this book includes no fiction, only true thoughts that he has experienced and things he believes or anticipates. This book includes something for everyone to connect to. He has also included writings by his wife, Linda; his daughter, Holly; his dear friend, Robert (Bob) Gorman, who passed away in 2007; and Bob's daughter, Mary Frances.
