Synopsis "Touch the Sky"
Thirteen-year-old Gray lives with her beloved and devoted Christian father, Jack, after his divorce from her abusive mother. One mundane, summer afternoon, Jack decides to take Gray on a spontaneous road trip to the small town of Belle, Missouri. The sun sets on the cloudless, summer day and before they begin their journey back home, the two of them rest, side by side, on the dock of a river, listening to the symphony of nature and staring up at a starlit sky. For one infinite moment, Gray feels alive. For one infinite moment, she grasps divinity.But as tightly as she tries to hold on, this moment under a picturesque sky seems to slip right through Gray's fingertips. Days later-as though God Himself sent a lightning bolt from His very fingertips to splinter her life-her father unexpectedly passes away. She spends eleven long years grappling through a shroud of devastation and resentment. How could a loving God strike down such a gentle, selfless man?Unable to cope with the darkness in her life any longer, Gray decides to pack up her bags and take off for the horizon, chasing the misty memory of his ghost. Her journey leads her back to the small town of Belle, in hopes of finding a ray of light in a dark world, and that's where she stumbles upon an unexpected group of friends-including a man named Tony who threatens to make her heart beat again. Unwilling to allow anyone close, Gray hides behind a shroud of pain, tormented by the trauma of the night her father passed away. And when she least expects it, a warm sunny ray seems to break through, dissipating her defenses. Will Gray ever be able to confront the storm? Will she continue to run from the building clouds on the horizon? Will she be swept away by the floodwaters? Or will she learn to dance in the rain?
