It is 1980 in India as Surya waits for the forbidden love of his life, Ahalya, to appear. When she finally arrives, she is wearing a wedding ring. After the two reluctantly part ways, Surya, who is drowning in despair and heartache, takes his own life. All that is left for his family and best friend, Vijay, is grief and their memories. Vijay, desperate for a new beginning, soon moves to the city where he is blessed with two sons-one named Surya after his beloved friend.
