Synopsis "Wally-World"
Debs was somewhat of a revolutionary, maybe not in the conventional sense but a revolutionary nonetheless. After a short time watching what went on at Wally-World, her mission in life, a somewhat reluctant and circuitous one but one base on principle, became an intense desire to stand up for what's right and to champion the cause of retail workers. Whether it be the humiliation and indignity of the morning store chants, the stints spend as a robotic door-greeter, the wage theft, hours-cutting or any number of other forms of degradation, Debs was always there to cry foul and to defend her Wally-World friends. Possessed of a penchant for speaking truth to power, the expression "team player" could never be applied to her, though the moniker of unabashed whistleblower fit her rather nicely. She was always there when a fellow worker needed a willing and compassionate ear and some good advice. Worker solidarity was her everlasting guiding light. Such behavior put her in rather low esteem with management, especially store manager Jack Whitby. This novel is a cry for empathy and justice in the wilderness of exploitative American retail business. In the end, . . .
