Lewis was born and raised in Texas, and has spent much of his life in the American West. He has a Master's degree in history from Texas State University and done doctoral studies at Texas Tech. He spent many years teaching history in colleges in California-and in China, where he has spent over ten years. He has also lived in England and South Korea. But there is no place like his beloved Texas and American West.
