Synopsis "Winning With Arabic Broken Plurals: A Handbook for Arabic Language Learners"
Arabic and English are two languages that non-native speakers may consider to be complex. There are rules in each of these languages which mitigate many problems, such as those for making plurals. In English, we simply add an "s" to the end of a word and then it becomes plural, correct? Many times, this is not the case! Arabic also has many words-known as broken plurals-that do not follow such a standardized approach. Learners often rely heavily on their dictionaries to help them determine the correct way to pluralize nouns and adjectives, but this method is very time-consuming. In response, I have developed nine techniques that I have found to be consistent across certain patterns of broken plurals. While these techniques do not help the learner in all cases, many nouns and adjectives fall into the categories that I will provide in this book. Let us begin!
