Synopsis "Accipiter Use of Pinyon-Juniper Habitats for Nesting in Northwestern Colorado"
Although substantial research has been directed at understanding accipiter nesting- habitat relationships, little attention has been paid to pinyon juniper vegitation of western United States. Previous surveys conducted by the Bureau of Land Management in Northwestern Colorado suggested that accipiter nesting in these habitats might be more common than previously acknowledged leading to a BLM- sponsored study of this phenomenon by HawkWatch International in the Piceance Basin of Colorado
