Entre el 19 de setiembre y el 13 de noviembre de 1935 se publicaron en el diario El Mundo los artículos que desde Europa enviaba Roberto Arlt (1900-1942). Esta serie de notas le valieron el reconocimiento de toda la colectividad gallega en la Argentina, emocionada por una escritura que retrataba monumentos históricos, escenas de fiestas populares o personajes anónimos. Con el estilo inconfundible del gran escritor argentino, este gran fresco no se limita a la descripción de paisajes: también el dolor está presente en una España que se encaminaba hacia la guerra civil.
