Sailing out of Ireland in 1825 bound for Philadelphia, the McCullough's push on to the American Midwest and onward to the West over the next two hundred years. Travel along with the wandering Irishman Bernard McCullough and his footloose kinfolk as they move ever westward and ever faster. Sail with them aboard square-riggers and ocean liners from Ireland and Europe to America and back again. Rumble over the Appalachians in a covered wagon. Taste the soot and cinders as you chug through Midwestern America on steam trains. Go aloft in kites, biplanes, barnstormers and jets. Here is a tale of immigrant families overcoming dark times of famine, poverty, welfare, alcoholism, abuse, greed, war and death. It is an American chronicle of how hard work, perseverance, love and humor can overcome adversity.
