They are aided by Matthew Ranger, a young Angolo Indian junior clerk working at Government House. Pursued by a relentless Japanese officer called Moto, they escape through the dense jungle in the attempt to find refuge over the border in India. Mixed in with Bud Wesley the American flyer, the beautiful Chinese Mei Ling, and Amusan the Tiger of the Hills.
