First published in 1994, this volume responds to a key debate in the European Community, extant since the signing of the Single European Act (SEA) in 1986, in exploring the role of transportation in the creation of a Common Market with free movement of goods, people, capital and services. Critical of the EC's compromise on transport between economic principles and political realities, this book seeks to address issues of international cooperation, lack of common approach and differences in national law and political systems along with the question of finance.
