Synopsis "Evangelicalism in Mexico City: Religious Differentiation and Structural Change (2014-2015)"
This research began as a study of Pentecostals in Mexico City which in its own right was extended to various evangelical groups. The comparative perspective with traditional Catholicism that has predominated in these lands -and with the structural change which accompanies it, tendentially unfavorable to Catholicism- became evident from the beginning. The history of modern Pentecostalism presented here must be taken in the sense of an unfinished sketch which outline hypotheses to be developed, rather than as a Definitive History of world Pentecostalism. However partial and incomplete it may appear, what is clear is that Mexico has not been able to escape from it (and here I refer strictly to historical sources). In addition to social theory and historiography, the study contains census information and fieldwork (participant observation) in six evangelical churches in Mexico City.
