Finding Your Way: Navigating Life by Understanding Your Learning Self is based on the premise that learning defines who we are and how we behave; it defines how others perceive us and interact with us; it develops our capacity and molds our future. Tom Friedman in The World is Flat states, "The society that has the strength of sound governance, the innovation of technology, and the ability to learn, (emphasis added) will be the people who continue to succeed and achieve." Across the globe, it is the technology of the mind that equips us to learn. When we know how we learn, we can use our minds with intention to navigate the world of the 21st century. The purpose of Finding Your Way is to help readers meet Friedman's challenge, i.e., to help individuals understand why they sometimes feel "lost," and then equip them to achieve greater success and fulfillment in their personal and professional lives by providing them with personal learning tools to enhance the work of their minds. While the text can be read in two hours, its chapter activities will extend the message into the reader's workplace, far beyond the pages of the book. A key feature of the book is the self-report instrument, the Learning Connections Inventory, which is embedded in the text for use by the reader.
