Synopsis "Glimpses of an Irish Felon's Prison Life"
"Glimpses of an Irish Felon's Prison Life" is a 1922 autobiographical account of Thomas J. Clarke. Thomas James Clarke (1858 - 1916) was a leader in the Irish Republican Brotherhood, a secret oath-bound organisation in Ireland from 1858 to 1924. Having spent most of his life in English prisons for his beliefs, Clarke is considered to be the sole person responsible for the 1916 Easter Rising, an armed rebellion against British rule in Ireland. Clarke was executed after the event. This fascinating account of bravery and determination is not to be missed by those with a keen interest in Irish history. Read & Co. History is proudly republishing this classic memoir now in a brand new edition complete with the introductory chapter "The Provisional Government of the Irish Republic".
