It is an early account of the manners and customs of the people as accurately as possible from the perspective of a foreign traveler. He was accomodated by the then Vice-Minister of Home Affairs and Adviser to the King, Mr. C.R. Greathouse, also General Le Gendre, Foreign Adviser to the Korean ruler.
