Synopsis "Left of the Dial: A Memoir of Schizophrenia, Recovery, and Hope"
Left of the Dial is a ringside seat to going mad. Christina Bruni was a disc jockey on FM radio in college in the 1980s. The alternative music played on air was dubbed Left of the Dial. Her life changed forever on the night she had a breakdown. Hospitalized and given pills, she was sent back out in the world to find her way with no blueprint. While in the system, she rebelled the role of "mental patient" and fought to have a life of her own design. An artist living in the city, Christina healed using books, music, and fashion along with the medication. It was her belief that her fiercely creative and independent life wouldn't end with the diagnosis that kept her going. Now in remission over 25 years, she is a Disability and Social Justice Advocate helping peers live full and robust lives.
