Synopsis "Manuel d'Informatique de Base (in French)"

L'histoire de l'informatique est pratiquement liée à celle de l'ordinateur. La première machine programmable fut inventée par un mathématicien anglais Charles Babbage (1792-1871), qui en trouva l'idée en construisant, en 1823, une machine à calculer entièrement mécanique nommé moteur différentiel. A cette époque, la technologie n'était pas assez évoluée pour permettre la réalisation de tels projets. Mais il eut l'idée de concevoir un appareil capable d'exécuter des calculs en des cartes perforées et qui comprenait quelques principes qui seront utilisées plus tard dans la conception des ordinateurs modernes.
