Synopsis "Sense and Nonsense: A Collection of Poems"
SENSE AND NONSENSE is a collection of facts, fiction and faith, accumulated over more than 70 years of a very ordinary life. The poems are open and easy to read, sometimes logical and sometimes just the illogic that goes into and through the mind of a child of God, adopted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aspiring octogenarian. In the words of the author's preface: > (The poems are) "partly ancient wisdom collected over time, with some wry observations that spilled over into rhyme. Mostly they're about the God that I met long ago, Who lights my way, and tries to teach me things I need to know.> "It's a list of treasures, the gifts He's given me: A world that's rich in promise, a country strong and free. The places where I've found Him, the people I can call; those He sends to lift me up, to catch me when I fall.> "Beloved family and friends with time and love to share, and "love notes," straight from Heaven, in answer to my prayer.> "SENSE He sends to warm my heart, NONSENSE to make me smile, the loving arms He offers when I need to rest a while." Some poems ask profound questions, such as how could a loving God take a child before a parent? Others look for, and find, that good that God brings to all who suffer. > The order the poems appear is alphabetical only, so that while one poem may offer poignant reminiscences, the next might bring a smile.> >Readers are reminded of memories worth keeping, and that the rest is just baggage, best left behind.> The rhymes offer ideas and ideals about life: the importance of yesterday, the wonders of today, and the rich anticipation of what God has in store for tomorrow. They might even tempt readers to look forward to just plain growing old!
