A German-born immigrant to the United States, Albert Wehde has been a man of many trades. He was altogether a traveller, an explorer, a gold seeker, a revolutionary, an ardent patriot of two fatherlands, an arms smuggler and a spy. As Wehde wanders throughout Central America and Asia, fate and chance brought this strong character to become a historical figure of the first importance, especially so during the First World War, this pioneering era of espionage and secret war. This is his autobiography, a sincere tale, written in a light-hearted manner, with humour as every great sufferer learns to master and wield, grave when needed, although without complaint.
