Synopsis "The New Moon"

The New Moon (1770) follows in the footsteps of Cyrano de Bergerac's History of the States and Empires of the Moon, describing the epic journey of a lunar native, which takes him on a tour of the nations of the Moon, ending on the island of Eutoquia, the fictional equivalent of Utopia. A Journey from the Arctic Pole to the Antarctic Pole via the Center of the Earth (1721) describes a extravagant journey from one pole of the Earth to the other via its center. A Voyage to Paraguay-Roux (1835) is a parody of scientific reportage which includes the description of fanciful island civilizations in a style not unlike that of Lewis Carroll. The Aerial Journey (1859) is the dream-like narrative of a visit to the various major and minor planets of the Solar System, including strange "imaginary" planets more bizarre and complex than any other work of interplanetary fiction.
