This is the story of a vessel, of a type called jakt, that was afloatand in service for 123 years. Such a long life is exceptional.Our vessel has had three names. She was named Stine Katrinewhen finished in 1868, Åsta 1 in 1935, and Anne Kristine in 1952, a name she kept through four owners over 39 years.She was originally a sailing working craft with but was later motorized. Shethen became a yacht and under two owners acquired two different schooner rigs.Over time she had five different propulsion engines including large heavy semi-diesels. She met her end in a raging storm off the coast of Virginiarequiring heroic efforts by the Coast Guard to save the crew.
