Synopsis "The Secret Language of Vikings: A modern mystery set in coastal Massachusetts"
The Secret Language of Vikings is the story of a Coast Guard Lieutenant and his family set in the picturesque village of Hull, Massachusetts. After his being shot on patrol, the Lt. and his family struggle to adjust to the new reality of healing from a devastating injury as the Coast Guard and the Lt. search for the shooter. Drug boats, downsizing, history of the Boston Harbor Islands, and inter-personal communication in family relationships all come together to make this an enjoyable read. The Boston Harbor Islands have always been a place of mystery and history including the War of1812, the Civil War, and World Wars One and Two. Ghosts, POW barracks, forts, glue factories, hospitals, gambling casinos, the Big Dig, and burning waste are all part of their history. This busy harbor is open to other countries and a prime target for drug smugglers. The United States Coast Guard's job is a complicated and dangerous one. They are modern day heroes.
