Synopsis "The SHEroes Who Look Like Us: Black, Brown, And Variations Thereof: Blackbelt Women of The Martial Arts"
The history of martial arts is world history, yet people of color are seldom included in that story. More so, women of color are often omitted. From antiquity to now, women of color have been engaged in the martial arts to help protect their families and communities and to help transform the lives of many. Here, in the United States, there is a society of Blackbelt women of color - hidden jewels - that need to be uncovered. These hidden jewels are "SHEroes" who look like us. They are helping to keep our communities strong and thriving. Never told before, "SHEroes Who Look Like Us" is a compilation of 15 Blackbelt women of color who are making a significant difference in the lives of many. She is writing "her story" and standing on it because she knows that it matters.
